Tips/Suggestions
FLOOR CARE
Wipe up spills immediately with a lightly dampened cloth.
Apply liquid cleaner by spray or with a mop designed for the job rather than pouring it directly onto the floor.
Never leave liquids on the floor any longer than necessary.
Never use wax, oil based soap, or other household cleaners not designed for hardwood floors.
PROTECTING YOUR INVESTMENT
Place mats or rugs at all doorways to trap sand, dirt and mud.
Us felt floor protectors on all furniture.
Wood is a natural product that expands and contracts with moisture. Maintain relative humidity levels between 50 to 60%. This includes the basement.
All wood flooring will dent and scratch. Although the finish is one of the hardest and most durable on the market, sharp or pointed objects will damage it.
UV light will eventually change the color of all hardwood flooring. Frequently move rugs and furniture so the floor ages evenly.
Trim pets nails on a regular basis to minimize indentations. All pets can indent wood floors to varying degrees.
When moving heavy furniture such as a piano or refrigerator, roll on plywood sheets, never roll directly on your floor.
REPAIR
Use a latex filler to fill small gaps and nail holes. If it is a new Brazilian Cherry or American Cherry floor remember to use a darker putty.
If a board is severally damaged it may be cut out and replaced. At time of installation save a few extra pieces of wood for repairs.
